Take photos of any damage to your property. If you have insurance, file a claim with your insurance company right away. FEMA can’t help you with things that your insurance will cover.
Displacement Assistance: FEMA can help pay for housing, like hotels.
Other eligible expenses: FEMA can help pay for rent, basic home repairs, and lost property.
- FEMA might inspect your property to see the damage.
- FEMA will send you a letter telling you if they approved your application.
- If you don’t agree with the decision, you can appeal it.
- If your application is approved, FEMA will send you money by check or direct deposit.
